a mix of old and new

Recognize this beauty? For years, her family has driven all the way from Kentucky to have sessions with me. How ironic, that now they call Fort Smith home as daddy opend a new Pediatrician/Internal medicine office here.

This shoot had a little bit of old and new… “new” being a couple of spots we tried out this time (the rocks and wall) and the “old” being a bit vintage inspired in clothing and treatments. You can see  the last shot of the session, we tried to make it to the abandoned house. Shot at dark, I kinda dig the grainy feel.

Despite the crazy-busy-ness of October, I am loving every minute spent with my fall families.

…or at least this fall it is! Gold flowers…gold light…ah…makes my heart happy.

We’ve had this session on the books for months I believe. And it was so nice to have another beautiful day. You see we brought out the settee again. I think it was meant for me to have for this field!
Photographing these girls was a piece of cake. I hear that big sis had so much fun she wanted to keep shooting after we finished (always love hearing that!)

Not sure if I have the words for this long post…I just kept pulling more images to show. Our session got rained out not once, but twice. Now, that I see these images, I know we had our session, just at the moment we were supposed to.

worth getting wet

I loooove clouds, I do NOT loooove rain. Clouds make my job so much easier…I don’t have to face the sun, my locations are not limited, and the subject’s eyes can open up big and wide to let some soft light in – all of these things make for great photographs. I do crave my backlighting, but the field above faces west, so unless we trekked through to the middle to turn around, it would be a no-go on sunny days.

With all the rain, natural areas turned a bit mushy – something I wouldn’t have to worry about with concrete, pavement or this dirt road, but I think…it was worth me standing in ankle deep ditch water for the shot above.

Another set of brothers came to the studio this week. Such a sweet pair…I know mama has her hands full but oh is it worth it.

I just cannot stop looking at these! These pics were well worth the effort, even in the rain. Thank you so much!

I would have to say that my favorite out of these is the black and white of the older brother under the tree. I love the way the water droplets look.

Linda Junkins

I’m a grandmother to the two brothers, and I can’t stop looking at the pictures either! The subjects are beautiful, and Raye’s photography skills are fantastic. What a treasure. Thank you thank you thank you. I may have to take out a loan before I order because it will be hard to pick favorites when they are all so great! (I love the raindrops too.)
