Before leaving for Canada earlier this month (more on that trip to come), I  got a chance to see an image I shot for Mothering Magazine’s baby wearing article in the July-August 2010 issue.

Congrats to Grissa and Will for making both the table of contents and a full page image at the beginning of the article.

I have one last newborn session this morning before heading off to Halifax, Canada to meet and photograph a long-awaited little boy. I should be able to check email, but the studio will be closed until July 8th.

All of 3 days old, this adored natural beauty made her way to my studio earlier this month. We kept everything very simple to focus on her perfection.

The most recent issue (Summer 2010) of Midwifery Today magazine includes a wonderful and inspiring article written by a client of mine and included with the story of her at-home-water-birth are two of my images of her most recent darling newborn.

So there are a few sessions that I really wanted to blog before I left for Australia, but did not get a chance to. Facebook fans will already recognize some of these as I have been peeking there more often it seems lately.

Anyhow, here are some of my faves….with more to come.

Little guy has no chance…so many pairs of loving arms to hold.

Another sweet boy…my camera has been in front of his two siblings multiple times, but this was his solo session.

I was so glad to get this guy fitted into the schedule. He was a joy – a pure delight.

Seems like yesterday this doll’s older brother was in the studio for his newborn session.

Another family that seems to grow with me…this time brought a new sister to share.

Sweetheart and very laid back..so much so, that she waited to come a couple of weeks after her due date.

It’s been two weeks since we got back from the Gold Coast of Australia – Surfers Paradise. There I was a part of a workshop (InspireMe 2010) along with Ashley Skjaveland and Brianna Graham.

Now that I am home, I get asked how we enjoyed our trip. I have to say that a smile always comes across my face. So many beautiful experiences my family got to have there.

Along with the amazing time shopping and exploring, I also worked…teaching 4 groups of photographers over 2 weeks time on “Photographing the Family Connection”. There was awesome kindred spirits there. I fell in love with each group that sat in front of me. Thank you all for your kindness and sharing.

Below are the families I photographed at the end of each day for the classes to see the techniques in action. I was so excited that I had a field to shoot in. And even better, a beach just steps away… ah….to be back there again.

First up: Australian Pro Rugby player for the Gold Coast Titans – Nathan Friend and his gorgeous family.

2nd group: Amazing photographer Lana Bell of Little Posers and her beautiful kids and hubby.

3rd group: Another fabulous photographer Jemma Entriken of White Wish Photography with her darling bunch.

Last day: This family was all about play! The fun and creative team of Matt and Katie photographers filmed this particular shoot. I can’t wait to see what they got!

This recent session had me counting…I have had a the honor & pleasure of photographing at least 12 photographers during my career.  Many local here in Fort Smith, others from other parts of Arkansas (Northwest & Central), and a few out of state photographers (Texas, Oklahoma, California). And there are 4 more on the books for later this year. Wow!

I can say that it used to give me butterflies, being a photographer you know they don’t get the opportunity to be in FRONT of the camera too often, so you want to give them your best. But now…it just makes me happy and usually my “job “is pretty easy because they know what to do – love on each other and keep smiling.

This fabulous family belongs to Crystal Goss. Maybe I should up my count to 13, because I have photographed her babies before when the youngest was a newborn. She is an amazing person and equally talented. Her work with the March of Dimes is very inspiring. Go check her out and see…

And while he sleeps…he dreams…and while he dreams …he hears…the soft clicks of my camera taking in his perfection.

I want my long-distance clients to know how much joy it gives me to see their love for their baby become translated into 4+ hour drives. That love  – wanting to freeze the moment when babe was just barely an arm-full.

These tiny travelers make their way into my heart and I start missing them the moment they leave. I appreciate their appreciation of photography, art, and that special time.
