This family had my last opening for 2009. What a special one too as I have photographed them many times and it is always a pleasure.

A note: In months of December and January, the studio will only be open for newborn sessions and client ordering.

Now, that all sessions are completed, I will be kicking into overdrive this week to ensure all deliveries will be made by Christmas. Because of the time crunch, galleries cannot be extended.  Thank you so much to everyone for truly the best fall-family experiences yet!

This post makes me so happy for many reasons…A very thoughtful person gave this mommy a gift certificate for a session in celebration of her children – and what gorgeous, beautiful souls they are. It is a session like this that makes me feel once more reconnected & reinspired about what I do for it wasn’t about any new location or prop, any specific outfit, any specific idea or pose – it was about THEM.

This week is all about taking a step back from the routine daily chaos and realizing what blessings you have been given. As I type, I have two of those in their tiny beds…and my love of my life in mine. That’s all that matters and thank you God for each day I have with them.

a beautiful cloudy day | Arkansas family photography

greenwood arkansas child photographer

I really love all the texture this session had in it (the leaves, old corroded metal, rocks, wispy grasses, etc.) Mom really wanted some by the old trucks and then it seems the natural progression has been downtown and on to a field. These sisters had such unique and different personalities – each having their own beauty. And even though it was a day full of clouds, they were shining.

In all the fall family craze, I still managed to get this little beauty in for session. She is quite special…you see she is the first baby girl in over 50 years. Yes, she has more than a handful of boy cousins to keep in line.  And even more on the way!

Is it possible that this family makes me grow as a photographer? I enjoy shooting them so…  Yes, its also great seeing the whole brother dynamic. Almost like watching my own two interact sometimes. And always gaining new insight into how to mix a bit of posed (if you call it even that) and candids of these two boys with loads of fun energy. Adore you D and H!

This year we tried out a new spot…which was a bit muddy, but what boy doesn’t love to climb? The alley (Charleston’s one and only) had many people stop by – they just had a make a remark about the P family’s newest (and biggest) member Roscoe. Yes, that is a dog, not a horse. LOL

fall family of 4 & studio news

Posted by rayelaw 3 Commented November 17 2009

Under: Arkansas Childrens Photography - Child Photographer, Arkansas Family Portraits, Uncategorized

I have lots of blogging to do and not much time to do it. Peek posts are one of my favorite parts of the session process, and although I may not “peek” each one, please know I want to.

The crazy season ends this week here, but more work continues as galleries get proofed, christmas card orders get mocked-up, orders get placed, albums get assembled, and pretty soon it will be December. Take note that December through January, the studio will be closed and only a select number of newborn sessions will be taken. I use this time to revamp for 2010 and of course spend time with family.

This session was a nice change of pace. Older sis is an amazing gymnast. The last image is one of many that we did at near dark – the “blue” hour if you will. She wowed me in all her abilities. And I know that “taking pictures” is usually not in the fun category for 5th grade boys, but we did work out a deal that he got to pick what was for supper that night.

A loving family…a loving-good time.
