This week, I opened up my studio for the first of the few limited newborn sessions I will be photographing during my maternity leave.
Caden, you are so tiny compared to my 7 week old baby.You made me remember how fast babyhood truly does go.
The most adorable highlights in your hair leave me jealous and your sweet, calm personality made me smile often. I think you already have mommy/daddy wrapped around your fingers…

Oh how my world has wonderfully turned upside down in the past 6 weeks. On January 24, 2012 at 11:12 am our long-awaited miracle arrived.

I have been enjoying every single second of time with her…every moment knowing that she changes even day to day. I don’t know how my life could be any more richer or more perfect.
I love looking back at what I wrote on facebook once we returned home from the hospital.
All I can say is I know what “cloud nine” feels like… soft with such a sweet scent, squishy with lips that make so many different shapes, and alert eyes that I swear already know her mommy & daddy are in heaven.
The remarkably talented, inspiring, and lovely Ashley Skjaveland flew cross-country from Red Deer, Canada to photograph my darling.
I am ever so grateful for and enamored with the images she got of my feisty girl. They are everything I could dream about…honest, pure, and simply “her” at day 7. I feel as if seeing me with my baby through photographs “locks” the feeling…the experience…the most fleeting time in my mind forever.
Ashley simply has an amazing gift – a true artist. I encourage any newborn photographer out there challenge the way they view newborn photography via Ashley’s NEWBORN guide. It is truly a refreshing resource.
